I have started this blog back in 2013. The objective was to showcase the best writing out of the continent or by Africans in the diaspora. Over the years, my interest has evolved and included all kinds of literature. As a lifelong learner and a very curious person, it was predictable that my various interests would keep growing.
I am very much committed to the growth and representation of work written by people of color. Let’s not forget that these communities have been marginalized for a very long time.
I am a person of color myself who loves to read great works of literature. And I don’t necessarily see the kind of work that represents me everywhere.
For a minority living in a majority culture completely different from mine, representation matters. Gender representations also matter. I am at the intersectionality of race and gender.
In this blog, you will find my reflections on the books I read. I read all kinds of books from fiction to non-fiction to poetry. I understand this world we live in through books. This blog is my exploration of the written worlds. My journey through what has been written by those that came before us and by our contemporaries. I will sometimes interview authors and cover literary events.
I write in English and in French to reflect the diversity in the literary world as well as the diversity in Montreal where I lived. I am also brushing up my skills in Hindi so expect some post on that as well. I hope to learn many more languages.
